Holidays Can Be Difficult.

We all love the holidays with there lights and tinsel and packages. Not to say all the baked goods that fill our homes with the aroma of cakes and cookies and candies. But above all this, the Holiday would be empty if it wasn't for our families. It isn't the getting together and making memories really what makes the holiday special? When you can't be with those you love it just kind of feels empty. I watch this here at our home. Some of our residents have children or family close by that can have the privilege of coming and taking their loved ones home for the day or a few hours. But some do not have that choice. We always make a dinner and have gifts and things for everyone. Even though we love them and try to make it special I still can't, and I do not want to take the place of their special family. I love it when the family calls and makes their mom or dad feel loved and cherished. Sending a little package too even makes it more special. I love to have the tree full underneath so that they have plenty to open and know that they were not forgotten. I know also that these families that are not close by have also struggled because they miss their mama or dad or grandma or grandpa. So has we enter this holiday season lets pray for those who can not always be with family or loved ones. If any of you have any suggestions for me on how to make this day more special for our residents I would love to hear them.

Visit from the Pathfinders Mt. Pleasant Monarchs

The Pathfinder Club came down and toured our facility last week. The boys had a great time. I showed them all the things we do and then we sat and sang some songs and I told them stories. The ladies loved hearing them when we were singing too. Made their day. I wish sometimes that the school kids would come more often. Is good for the elderly to have that interaction.I took their blood pressures and pulse ox levels. They loved it. But I think the highlight was the catching of the fish in the pond, I needed them caught and brought in for the winter and they were more then happy to take turns with the net. We caught not only fish but the poor frogs that were trying to winter them selves in the mud ant the bottom. Was great fun. They did a great job.

  Getting their blood pressures done

I can do it just watch and this is how you do it!!!!

Are you sure I think this will work better don't you??

There is a big one did you see it??

very cold and slow frog. Poor baby got woke up from his long winters nap.

One of the baby fish they caught for the tank inside so they don't freeze during the winter.

Busy Days

A collage of pictures of my busy Wednesday. Lets see there were 4 showers and meals and laundry. Miss E got her hair cut and took all the vitals. Breakfast was a hit with poached eggs and toast with peaches and Activia. Wednesdays are always full for me. Getting lots done and keeping up with everyone. The little extra things we don't do everyday. Like trimming nails and painting those that want them and the hair cuts ect. Sometimes I do the extras on Sunday like perms. Today we were blessed with a volunteer for a couple of hours. Joe and I went to dinner and then picked up somethings for gifts. You know the holidays are coming up. Thank you so much to Miss J's daughter. We love you.
Just some of the table decorations for Fall. I love them. Have been using them for several years now on the resident table. They like the different decorations that we use for different holidays. Hope you are all having a great day. Everyone here is settled in for the night and tomorrow is another busy day here.

Just a little update

Its been a very busy summer and fall. I know I have not posted here to much but have not been sitting much at my computer. I am hoping I will have a little more time this winter to keep up and post the things that happen here on a more daily basis. Or at least weekly. lol.
We still have a full house. Everyone is getting over a cold here and starting to perk up a bit. This makes me very happy. Its hard watching them when  they don't feel good and there just isn't a whole lot you can do about it.
So on happier notes, we have some holidays coming up and are looking forward to making them fun and special again this year. If you have any idea's please share them in comments here or our facebook page. I love to have input from all of you.

Our supper the other night. Butter Nut Squash Soup, salad with mandarins, pecans, onions and spinach, and toasted cheese bread. It was a hit on a cool evening.

Happy 89th Birthday Miss E

We celebrated Miss E's birthday tonight. I made them reubens and fries. With peaches on the side. Then we had cupcakes for desert. Everyone signed the card and she is loving the new book. Sitting and reading it as I am writing this. We love you Miss and are praying for many more birthdays with you!!

Its a work out

Little Miss D was so adorable tonight. She got up from supper and took both my hands in hers and started trying to tell me she needed something. She kept saying you know.... I need to?? She finally let me know she needed to do something she was getting a little chubby and so we went and worked out. She did all the exercises with me. Even got down and did sit ups. I just love this little lady. She is so sweet. Made for a happy bit in this long day.

Miss E and her new cut and style

It was time for Miss E to have a cut and style and it turned out just adorable. Was so cute she didn't even want to go to bed that night because she might mess it up. It's fun to make them look pretty and spoil them.

A busy week settling into a new routine.

This has been a very busy crazy week getting every settled into their new routines of having 6 peoples instead of just 4. I think we are getting there though.
Our 2 new ladies are a positive fit into our family. Everyone loves them and it is been fun getting to know each of them and listening as they all have been chatting a little more. They have seem to gravitate mostly to the one living room which I think is good because no one feel s left out.
Grandma loves to do the dishes and help me as much as possible. Yesterday she helped me make the soups too and work in the flower beds. Its so nice for me and she feels happy because she can be helpful.
Mr. G has been watching the strawberry patch pretty close and came in and told me there was a bunch ripe so we picked them and had them with ice-cream last night with our supper. You should have seen his face light up when I handed him his dish of berries. Loved it.
So here is our family. I just love each one so much. This just makes me smile inside and out. We are blessed!!!!!
All in all its been a good week. will share a few photos too.

Welcome to the family Miss I

This is  our sweet Miss I. She came to be a part of our family yesterday. We are very happy and grateful to have her here with us. She loves to be busy and when I went out to water she wanted to be helpful so she came and clipped the dead tops off the Iris for me. It is delightful to have a gardener with me.
Think I will call her grandma!!! It just fits.
Smile you are on camera. Was a fun evening. Our home is full and so are our hearts. God knows just who we need and brings them in for us to love and to cherish.

Getting the corners all painted and making sure no places are not covered. Looks great. This is how tall people paint tall areas. Looks so funny, have squatting just so he can paint the ceiling. I really like the color and it matches the items i have for decorating perfectly.

Lol Just love watching Joe paint. poor guy is going to have achy knees. Looks really nice though.

Putting up the border. Just enough to to do two walles now i have to think of other tings I can do.

Getting the carpet pad laid down right. Carpet is in now too and all shampooed. Looks so nice.

Raising the floor in another room and sprucing things up a bit

Taking the carpets and pads out of Miss E's room and going to raise the floor up so there will not be a wheel chair ramp down into the room anymore. It will be so nice and much safer too.
Mr. G has really been enjoying helping. I think it is good for him to get out and be involved.
Getting the boards all cut. Good job guys!!!

Making Home Made Ice-cream

I have all the ingredients in and Joe is putting the ice and salt around to make some yummy cold goodness on this very warm day. A perfect way to end the day. They were all looking forward to it.
Mr. N waiting and patiently. Enjoying a good conversation and watching the birds. They were really busy out this evening. We discovered a Robins nest and will share that with you all soon. God is so good to fill our yard with all the sights an sounds of nature.
A few more waiting for the ice-cream and enjoying the warm evening!
Hows that for a table of fixings. We even have toasted pecans that i made yesterday to go on the top.
Miss D already consuming her first bite of goodness. She kept saying how yummy that it was.
Mr. N said it was the best homemade Ice-cream that he has ever had. He missed the old fashioned crank kind. I wonder how long we would have had to wait for Ice-cream if we had had to wait for him to crank it.
Miss E enjoying her  cold treat. She loved the chocolate.

Now that is what I am talking about. MMMMMMMMMMMMMM and its vegan too. So yummy and good and cold on a hot day. Want some?????
Welcome to our home! In these pages are some of the fun memories with your loved ones.

Thank you so much for sharing them with us and intrusting them into our care. They are very dear to our hearts. We laugh together and cry together and Praise God together.

We are happy to serve our community here in Michigan. We take private and state pay residents ages 60 and up. This is God's home and it has been dedicated to Him in loving service.

We are a family here. Your loved ones come be in a family setting instead of a formal home. Stop in for a visit and see what we are like and get to know us a bit.

We also have family worship which they are welcome to attend if they choose. With singing and guitar.
May God richly bless all of you, and maranatha! Jesus is coming!
